Dr. Robert F. Collins

Our Practice Dr. Collins attended USC and received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (formally know as the Los Angeles College of Optometry). Dr. Collins in his professional career; served on the national advisory board for Cooper Vision, he is a charter member of the section on contact lenses for the American Optometric Association. In the early 80’s he work as an investigating Dr for Urocon Contact lens gathering information on, at that time, the new soft contact lenses. Today he and his staff are now working with Ciba Vision in evaluation the new Night Day Contact Lens. In 1981 Dr. Collins accepted position with Safeguard Health Plan as their Vision Director and served until 1999. In all these he has always maintained an active role in private practice keeping up with all the modern changes such as; Lasik surgery, myopia control, Orthokerotology, he holds certification by Visual Reality Laser Institute and Laser Eye Institute. When the laws in California changed allowing Optometrist to treat ocular diseases, Dr. Collins was among the first to pass the International Association of Board of Examiners in Optometry in 1996. When in 1966 Dr. Collins opened his practice in the San Fernando Valley he offered eye examinations, contact lenses and glasses for the whole family. We now offer that and much more; progressive lens, polycarbonate lenses for children, emergency eye care (eye injuries) treatment for eye diseases, detection and treatment of glaucoma, contact lenses (bifocal, progressive, daily, 2 week wear, reusable, rotational wear, color lenses for cosmetic purposes, extended wear up to 30 days, and toric for astigmatism) Helpful hint; Eye examinations for children should begin at the latest right before kindergarden and earlier if the parents suspect a problem. Our office manager Sofia is the glue that holds our office together. She is an extremely efficient and compassionate person who goes out of her way to help patients. We are very proud to have her lead our staff. Our lab tech, Roberto is an optician with years of experience who accurately makes your eyeglasses, repairs glasses and adjusts your frames. Our style conscious opticians Vicky, Alex and Carmen will assist you in finding the right look, comfort, and fit to suit your needs. Our front office staff will greet you cheerfully in English or Spanish to assist you in making appointments and establishing eligibility or any other administrative paper work necessary. Services We perform comprehensive eye examinations for children and adults. Emergency care is available for eye injuries and the treatment of ocular diseases. Pre and post op co management of refractive eye surgery. Stop in with your glasses or your prescription for complementary refractive consultation. One of the largest inventories of contact lenses is maintained in our office, so that most people can leave with their contacts on the same day. Our fashion minded opticians could use our large inventory of designer and budget eyewear to give you just the right look, comfort, and style.
