Dr. Collins attended USC and received his Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry (formally know as the Los Angeles College of Optometry).Dr. Collins served on the national advisory board for Cooper Vision, he is a charter member of the section on contact lenses for the American Optometric Association.
In the early 80’s Dr. Collins worked as an investigation Dr. for Urocon Contact Lens gathering information on the new soft contact lenses.In 1981 Dr. Collins accepted a position with Safeguard Health Plan as their Vision Director and served until 1999.
When the laws in California changed allowing Optometrists to treat ocular diseases, Dr. Collins was among the first to pass the International Association of Board of Examiners in Optometry . In 1966 Dr. Collins opened his practice in the San Fernando Valley offering eye examinations, contact lenses and glasses for the whole family.
Dr. Collins and his staff worked with Ciba Vision in evaluating their new Night & Day Contact Lens.Dr. Collins has maintained an active role in private practice keeping up with all the modern changes such as; Lasik surgery, myopia control, and Orthokerotology. He holds certification from Visual Reality Laser Institute and Laser Eye Institute.
Now we offer that and much more; progressive lenses, polycarbonate lenses for children, emergency eye care (eye injuries) treatment for eye diseases, detection and treatment of glaucoma, contact lenses (bifocal, progressive, daily, 2 week wear, reusable, rotational wear, color lenses for cosmetic purposes, extended wear up to 30 days, and toric for astigmatism).
