What is Macular Degeneration?

Age related Macular Degeneration, (AMD) is the most common cause of vision loss in people over age 65. In its more advanced stages, AMD will cause patients to have a very noticeable decrease in their ability to see sharply, or to use focused vision, which is the type of vision for reading or watching TV. For about 90% of the patients with AMD, this loss of vision is a gradual process.
