What is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is an eye disease that affects over 2 million Americans. Latinos are six times more likely to get glaucoma than other races. It can slowly rob you of your vision and you may not have any symptoms at all. In fact, most people affected by the disease don’t even know they have it. It is also a very difficult condition for eye doctors to diagnose, so it is important to get tested early. As the disease progresses, your field of vision slowly narrows, as if you were looking through a tunnel. If left untreated, the condition most often leads to blindness.

There is good news. A new technology is available to help detect the condition earlier, while there is still time to counteract the effects. The test is quick and comfortable, and is offered by Dr. Collins in addition to your regular eye exam. The entire test takes less than a minute. Call us today and schedule an appointment.
